Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced the list of national and provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and the French major of the School of Foreign Languages of SWJTU was approved as a provincial first-class undergraduate construction site.

Since its establishment, our department has been supporting majors construction with first-class teaching and research. For example, in 2022, the National Social Science Foundation Youth Project – “Research on the Translation and Dissemination of Daoist Texts in France” (established in 2016), led by Associate Professor Zhang Chon of our department, passed the appraisal and was successfully completed. In addition, in 2021, “Second Foreign Language I (French)”, of which Ms. Wang Tingting and Ms. Zuo Tianmeng from our department are lecturers, was evaluated as a provincial first-class undergraduate course. All the above achievements are the support and recognition of our department’s teaching work and nurturing effectiveness over the years, which will further promote the level of discipline construction and talent training quality of our department.

The Department of French will continue to keep our original intention and take up our mission to cultivate high quality composite talents with Chinese mind and global vision.
