English Chronicle is a featured publication of the English Department of the School of Foreign Languages, Southwest Jiaotong University. It was initiated by Zeng Xiangmin, the director of the English Department, and Zhang Yiyan, who was the tutor of the English Department. A few days ago, this print the 8^th issue went out smoothly. The chief editor of this issue is Cheng Wenjing from Class 1, Grade 2019 of the English Department. Many students from all grades of the English Department are responsible editors and art editors.

As the winter gone, the snow is melting, the grass turned green, and the new life of 2021 is slowly unfolding. We are celebrating the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 125^th anniversary of our university. This issue, with the theme of "2021", collects the life we love, bears the beauty we cherish, and also the progress we have made again. This issue records all these in multiple sections. Some compare the day to a bird, flying through the air for a moment and then coming back. Because again and again, we enjoy leisurely; Also because what had gone would never return, we nostalgia and cherish. In the days when time crumps, we taste the long-lost food. It may be instant noodles with eggs, yellow spicy ding from childhood memories and the DIY ice powder to taste the complexity and beauty of life in the sour, sweet, bitter and spicy flavor. In those days, we enjoy the sunshine, moonlight and stars, mountains, rivers, lakes and seas, and we feel everything in the world. At the same time, we also look for freshness and excitement in our lives in the colorful activities recorded in the news section. When we look back at those war-torn days from "The Awakening Age" and "The Revolutionaries," we can't help but be awed by the high morale and hot dreams of our ancestors, which have always inspired the younger generation to look ahead. Whether it is a literary masterpiece or a classic film, there are places worth exploring and thinking. In the dialogue with Xu Xiaoyan, a teacher from the School of Foreign Languages, and Dominic, the foreign teacher, we pieced together the appearance of Old SWJTU and Old Chengdu, and sincerely felt proud of our motherland. Among them, "Term Paper" is a new section of this periodical. Editors select students' excellent Term papers to display, providing a platform for students to show their writing talents.

Artistically, our team used the color red as the theme color and interspersed it with the layout design of the inside pages. Red and white phase line, overlay light gray, concise and intense, guiltiness and jump off. The cover takes the winding city wall as the creative idea, which stretches endlessly, symbolizing the infinite expectation of our ordinary life. The firm belief of the revival of our university and the best wishes for the prosperity of the motherland, as well as paying tribute to the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 125^th anniversary of Southwest Jiaotong University.

Year 2021 is still in its stride. Nietzsche once said, "Every day that passes without dancing is a betrayal of life." In the following years, he strongly committed himself to the work. Meanwhile, the 9^th special issue of "Social Media" is on the way.
