The Fifth National College Heads/Deans Of French Departments High-Level Forum was held on November 17^th, 2018 in Zhejiang International Studies University. The forum was jointly organized by French Teaching Advisory Board Under the Ministry of Education, China's French Teaching Research Association, Zhejiang International Studies University and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. Heads of foreign language schools, deans of French department, professors and scholars from over 60 colleges and universities such as Beijing Foreign Studies University, East China Normal University, Wuhan University and Shandong University and the young teacher Zuo Tianmeng of French Department of our school attended the forum. Extensive and deep exchange and communication were conducted around the theme “The Development Of French as a Major Under The New Era.”

The forum was officially began at 8:50, on which Hong Gang, president of Zhejiang International Studies University, gave an opening speech, then director of the French Teaching Advisory Board Under the Ministry of Education, professor Cao Deming analyzed the new direction and tasks of development of French Departments of China’s universities and colleges from a strategic viewpoint, and Hang Wei, deputy head of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, expressed the determination to strengthen cooperation with French teachers of universities.

Professor Li Dan, dean of Foreign Language Department of China Foreign Affairs University, presided over reports on the theme of the meeting, and Fu Rong, professor of French Department of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Yuan Xiaoyi, head of Foreign Language School of East China Normal University, and Wu Hongmiao, professor of French Department of Wuhan University, respectively delivered their report on “new role and duty of French teachers under globalization and economic globalization”, “ideas about the cultivation of French-speaking talents”, “depth and extension of cultural background of the texts for senior students”. From three different points, their reports discussed the role of french educator, cultivation of french learners as well as the exchange of Chinese and French culture in education, arising enthusiastic response and discussion from scholars. From 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., participants of the forum discussed on the topic of “The Foreign Language Concept and Cultivation of French-Speaking Talents in the New Era”, “French Learning and Teaching under the Digital Era”, “Course Design and Teaching Methodology of French” respectively at three conference halls. At 5 p.m., director of the Multilingual Division of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press Yue Yonghong presided over the closing ceremony, at which representatives of each group made conclusion on their discussion and Xu Jun, deputy director of the Marketing Division of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, concerning the foreign language digital resources construction under the background of education Informationization 2.0, delivered the speech of “Combination and Coordinated Innovation of Industry and Education” and then Ren Zhuoqun, editor of the Multilingual Division of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press introduced their publication of French book.

At the end, professor Fu Rong of Beijing Foreign Studies University gave the closing speech, in which he pointed out that the forum plays an important role in leading the development of French Department in the new era and put forward many enlightening, constructive and alert suggestions on the training of foreign language talents. As the very last part, professor Li Dan representing the next organizer China Foreign Affairs University introduced the development of the university, bringing to a successful close to the seminars.
