On November 3, 2018 "Xiashan Council Cup" Japanese Speech Competition was successfully held in Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Contestants and their tutors from such 23 universities in southwest China as Sichuan University, Chongqing University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Sichuan International Studies University and Guizhou University, gathered together and engaged in the fierce competition. Yang Chunli, a senior student from Japanese Department, took part in the competition and won the first prize.
The "Xiashan Council Cup" Japanese Speech Competition was firstly held in Southwest China, hosted by the China Japanese Education Association and its Southwest Branch, organized by Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and co-organized by Xiashan Society of Japan. Ikeda Tadashi, director of Xiashan Council of Japan, Zhou Yifu, president of the China Japanese Language Association, and Ma Yongping, president of the Southwest Branch of the China Japanese Education Association, and other distinguished guests, were invited to be judges.
Thecompetitionis divided into two parts, namely,propositional speech and impromptu speech. Inthe propositional speech, Yangchose the topic of“中国に紹介したい日本文化”(theJapanese culture that she wanted to introduce to China) to introduceone ofJapanesesocio-cultural phenomena of "do not trouble others".Sheofferedthe reasons why shechosethistopic by telling her own experiences.Hertopic of the afternoon impromptu speech was "急がば回れ"(more haste, less speed). Taking the frustrationsheencountered instudyas an example, she expressed her understanding of the proverblogicallyand accurately in Japanese, which touched the judges and the audience.
Before the competition, Yang, with the guidance of Mrs. Guo Yujie of Japanese Department, has made full preparations for nearly a month. She finally won the unanimous praise of the judges due to her unique conception, fluent Japanese and perfect pronunciation, and finally hit on the first prize. It is reported that she will be the representative of Japanese Department to participate in an eight-day Japanese cultural experience tour sponsored by the Xiashan Council.
In recent years, the Japanese Department has been strengthening the training of students’ all-round qualities, and presently seen its outcomes. The students have continuously won good results in various competitions. In the "2018 Japanese Papers Research Competition of the Sasagawa Cup", previously held at Jilin University, Yang Yi, a senior student from the Japanese Department, won the second prize in the category of Japanese culture. Both teachers and students of Japanese Department will join hands to forge ahead to create better results and win glory for the school.
