The finals ofSasagawaCup2018JapanPaperResearchCompetition, co-hosted by Japanese Language Teaching Guidance Committee of the Foreign Languages and Literatures Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education and China Japanese Education Association, was held in Jilin University on October 26th-27th,2018. Held at the time when it is the 40thanniversary since the signature ofChina-JapanPeaceandFriendshipTreatyand when the prime minister of Japan was visiting China, the competition had attracted extensive attention and active participation in the Japanese education community at home and abroad. Outstanding competitors of undergraduate students from Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Tongji University and Sun Yat-sen University gathered together to compete with each other.
The finals are divided into three groups: cultural group, literature group and linguistic group. Under the unfavorable conditions of the first appearance of the lottery, the Japanese Department student Yang Yi overcame the tension and successfully completed the speech presentation and defense. The outstanding performance was highly praised by the judges. After fierce competition and selection, Yang Yi was awarded the second prize of the National Culture Award of the 2018SasagawaCup Japan Paper Research Contest. The instructor Luo Peng won the title of “Excellent Paper Instructor”. In addition, Zhang Suhui, a student of the Japanese Department, instructed by Wang Fei, also won the Literature Excellence Award. The award ceremony was hosted by Professor Hu Jianjun, Secretary General of the China Japanese Education Association and Associate Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Jilin University. Chairman of the Japanese Language Teaching Guidance Committee of the Foreign Languages and Literatures Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, and Honorary President of the China Japanese Education Association, Professor Xiu Gang from Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Ms. Oshima Mieko, President of the Japan Science Association, Professor Zhou Yifu, President of the China Japanese Education Association and Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Jilin University delivered a speech respectively.
The "SasagawaCup2018JapanPaperResearchCompetition" represents a high level of Japanese study of undergraduate students from universities around the country, and has given many new enlightenments to the reform of Japanese teaching of undergraduates and the promotion of students' capabilities of independent learning, thinking and research.
