On April 20thand 21th, theForum of Foreign Language Education & Traditional Chinese Culture Going Globalwas held in Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Experts, leaders, and representatives from foreign language schools of universities in Sichuan Province gathered here for this forum. Dean of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of SWJTU, Executive Director of the American Research Center, Professor Li Chengjian, Deputy Dean Yu Senlin and Assistant Dean Ren Xiankai attended this forum, and Prof. Li was invited to deliver a keynote speech.
In her speech, she mentioned that we were under the opportunity and challenge of “the first-class universities and disciplines construction”, so developing the disciplines of SFL including foreign literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, translation studies, comparative literature and intercultural communication, and regional and country studies should be our common endeavor. Besides, Prof. Li also shared the achievements made by SFL European Research Center and American Research Center in the past three years.In the field of translation, the translation studies of Chinese classics, the overseas translation studies ofHong Lou Meng, and the engineering translation all have developed rapidly in recent years, with fruitful results yielded in terms of related projects, papers and practical achievements.
