From October 21st to 22nd, 2017, President Li Chengjian, Dai Ruoyu and Ren Xiankai attended the International Seminar on "African Studies in Chinese Anthropology, Tradition, Overseas and Practice" & Inauguration Ceremony of the Chinese Center for African Anthropological Studies at Zhejiang Normal University in Jinhua, Zhejiang. Director Dai Ruoyu submitted and presented a conference paper entitled "Chinese Railway Technology Export and Humanities Strategy: The Development of China Railway Technology Training in Kenya and Its Significance in Anthropology".

The seminar was hosted by the Institute of African Research (IAR) at Zhejiang Normal University. The main topics covered in the seminar include the study of extraterritorial culture by Chinese academic traditions, overseas studies of contemporary Chinese anthropology, China's national and regional studies in Africa, and the types of African studies in the field of anthropology. Dai Ruoyu submitted and read the paper to the conference, sharing his personal experience and thoughts on the training of the “Mombasa Nairobi Railway” technicians. His paper received praise and attention from the participating scholars. Many of the scholars studying in the relevant research direction started a more in-depth exchange with him after the meeting.

During the meeting, President Li Chengjian exchanged views with Professor Liu Hongwu, Dean of IAR and also Changjiang Scholar, on the construction and academic development of the Regional and Country Research Center. At the same time, President Li presented the IAR with the Journal of Chinese-American Humanities from American Studies Center of our university.Through this meeting, our institute has established academic links with experts and scholars from IAR.In addition, through the academic exchange activities organized by the conference, the European Studies Center and the American Studies Center of our university have further expanded the studying ideas and models, which will certainly be of great help to the future construction of our university's regional and country studies and the further development in this direction.
