Zhu Jianmei, Vice President of SWJTU learned about SFL’s preparation for SFL’s 30th and SWJTU’s 120th anniversary from the reports respectively given by Xu Ge, Party Secretary of SFL, and Li Chengjian, Dean of SFL.
SFL will mark its 30th anniversary in 2015 and the celebration preparation is already under way. Activities for the anniversary year vary enormously in forms, including the Classic Reading Club, an international conference, academic lectures, a drama performance in foreign languages, an alumni reunion, an art performance, etc. SFL has formed a working group to contact alumni as well as to raise fund from external resources for SFL’s talent cultivation and development.
In comply with SWJTU’s international strategy, SFL will host an International Seminar of Languages and Language Education this August, with several renowned scholars from Harvard University and Columbia University giving keynote speeches. Moreover, academic discussions and dialogues will be held during the Seminar for future cooperation.
In the meanwhile, SFL has also been preparing for SWJTU’s 120th anniversary in 2016 while taking full advantage of its diversity in language and culture. Vice President Zhu spoke highly of SFL’s endeavor, hoping that SFL would contribute to SWJTU’s disciplinary development and talent cultivation with broader mind and by variable means.
