To bid farewell to 2014 and express welcome to 2015, the Japanese Department of School of Foreign Languages (SFL) held a party (an annual event) on Xipu campus on December 21. Mr. Shimomura Keisuke and his four colleagues from Chengdu Kobelco Construction Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. were invited to join the party as well as the joy. At the beginning, Mr. Shimomura, Dr. Wang Junqi—Deputy Party Secretary of SFL, and Assist. Prof. Li Haizhen—Dean of the Japanese Department, extended in their respective speech a common wish for a promising 2015. They also hoped the further cooperation between Kobelco and SWJTU would be a win-win strategy for both parties.
Then the party began! A tense quiz on Japanese culture ignited the participants’ excitement. All of the students could not wait to answer the questions, showing their broad knowledge about Japan. The following phase—DIY Sushi and food tasting brought the occasion to a climax. The honored guests from Kobelco and the teachers happily joined the students, enjoying the pleasant chat and delicious food. In addition to Sushi, the “teacher chef team” and the host class (Class 2 of 2013 grade) also prepared Chinese jiaozi and Japanese miso soup, filling the room with irresistible temptation for the party-goers’ sense of taste. After all the delicious food, a prize draw awakened the passion for good luck, pushing the party towards another climax.

Financially supported by Kobelco, the New Year Party is an important event for both the teachers and the students of Japanese Department. Obviously, the meaningful exchange between Kobelco and the department is a beautiful reminder of college life.
