Academic Journal of Hongloumeng, in its latest and sixth issue of 2014, dedicated pages to the International Conference on the Multi-lingual Translations of A Dream of Red Mansions in Europe and the Overseas Redological Studies jointly sponsored by Confucius Institute at Palacky University of Czech Republic and School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Southwest Jiaotong University in mid September, 2014. In addition, the SFL redology experts’ visit to Slovakia was also fully reported.
Academic Journal of Hongloumeng is sponsored by Institute of China’s Redological Studies of Chinese National Academy of Arts directly under Ministry of Culture. The bimonthly journal enjoys high reputation as is listed in CSSCI (Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index) and subsidized by the National Fund in Social Sciences.

In the photo of the delegates present at the conference on the inside front cover, we can find four familiar faces from SFL-- Dr. Wang Pengfei, Vice Dean of SFL and member of the conference academic committee, Dr. Tang Jun, Assoc. Prof. Yang Anwen and Ms. Liu Mingyang. This international conference on redology was held in Czech Republic for the first time, and the details can be found in pages 319—324.

On the inside back cover, there printed some photos of the participants at the Culture Salon of Grand View Garden held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia right after the Czech conference. In one of the photos are Ján ?arnogurský, the former prime minister of Slovakia; Marina ?arnogurská from the Oriental Institute of Slovak Academy of Sciences, the translator of the Slovakian version of A Dream of Red Mansions; and the four teachers from SFL. The salon, jointly held by Slovakia-China Friendship Association and Europe-China Center in Slovakia, aimed to introduce Chinese culture to Slovakian people through the proper Chinese classic as well as welcome Chinese redologists. The relevant report can be found in Pages 325-327.
The domestic and international recognition of SFL’s efforts in redology contributes to SWJTU’s strategy of building up a prestigious comprehensive university from a science-and-engineering-oriented one, with a balanced multi- disciplinary development.
