    With the advent of Big Data Age, information technology has led the development of different disciplines, and language service industry began to take the advantage of technologies in recent years. SFL has scooted in the forefront of the industry development to better build the undergraduate and master discipline of translation and interpreting. To develop translation talents capable of serving the needs of our time, SFL provides relevant curriculum and academic lectures and introduce translation technology as well as management concept of translation project.
 
    SFL invited Bengt Sjogren, an international language technology & service expert, to give a lecture on term management in the afternoon of May 27th. Mr. Sjogren founded the Interverbum Technology Company in 1999, which have provided language solutions to many multinational companies and stood at the top of the pyramid in term management. He, together with Zhu Xianchao, the Chairman of Lan-Bridge Group and an outstanding alumnus of SFL, brought the latest knowledge of translation technology to widen the teachers and students’ views on this industry.
 
    Mr. Sjogren began his lecture with the background of global development trend in Big Data Age and talked about problems encountered in the business environment of multi-language and multi-culture. He pointed out that cooperation, integration and standardization are solutions. He then introduced the term management platform -- TermWeb developed by Interverbum Technology Company and illustrated necessary qualities future translation talents should possess from the technical perspective. Finally, he briefly introduced the Falcon Project co-established by Interverbum Technology and Trinity College Dublin and noted that colleges and universities could take full use of their resources to cooperate with enterprises providing language technology to benefit each other and make contribution to the society.
 
    In the question-and-answer part, Mr. Sjogren answered questions about the method, price and operation of term management posed by students of MTI.
 
    This is one of the lectures held by SFL to advance the reform of translation programme and to keep pace with development strategies. In previous practices and academic lectures, domestic computer aided translation expert, Canadian seasoned translator, literary translation scholars from home and abroad were invited to bring cutting-edge information about the development of translation for teachers and students. SFL will enhance cooperation with enterprises and government departments in featured specialty building and pay attention to high-technology, further promoting the development of the undergraduate and postgraduate discipline.
