The “Academic Poster Presentation” event for Urban Rail Academic English was successfully held on May 18th on the third floor of No.3 Teaching Building. Under the careful planning of the Urban Rail Academic English Course Group of the Engineering English Department and the strong cooperation of the Student Working Group of the Institute of Smart City and Intelligent Transportation, students demonstrated the stage-by-stage learning results of the Academic English course with confident English language expression and standardized design of the academic wall posters.

In this semester, under the guidance of the course instructor, the students elaborately prepared and presented the posters ranging from the establishment of research projects to the refinement of research questions, from the search for literature to the design of questionnaire surveys, from the organization, analysis and description of data to the layout and design of posters, and from the accumulation of academic expression to the equipment of speech skills,which reflected the gratifying progress of the production of their academic projects and the expression of their academic English in the past two months.

The poster is rich in research topics and positive values, some of which are closely related to professional knowledge, some are in line with the general interests of college students, some are sore points with students’ life and studies, and some are closely related to campus and social hot issues, which reflects the honest academic attitude, strong thinking ability, and profound humanistic literacy of contemporary college students.

The whole presentation process was also full of vigor and creativity. The students interacted with the audience actively, sharing their research results and experiences and answering their questions patiently. The team members’ good division of labor and cooperation, generous and confident attitude and fluent English expression also left a deep impression on the audience.

Vice Dean Yi Hong of School of Foreign Languages, Dean He Zhengyou and Vice Dean Sun Zhanbo of School of Intelligent City and Transportation, Director Xia Xia of Office of Student Management, Deputy Director Ren Fu of Office of Talent Cultivation, and related teachers were also present at the event, and they highly praised the students’ efforts and achievements, and provided valuable guidance and suggestions.

This activity not only presented the significant achievements of students in this semester’s academic English journey, but also demonstrated the achievements of the urban rail academic English teaching team in improving students’ comprehensive abilities through project-based curriculum reform. It is deeply hoped that this activity and this course can further strengthen the students’ academic English foundation and lay a solid foundation for their future development path.
