Recently, Dr. Yang Chi, a teacher from Japanese Department, was invited to attend the 15th International Academic Symposium of the East Asian Cultural Interaction Society and to present a paper. This symposium was held from May 6th to 7th, 2023 at Nankai University with the theme of “Integration and Innovation of East Asian Culture”. More than 300 experts and scholars from multiple universities at home and abroad participated in this conference both online and offline.
Dr. Yang Chi gave a presentation on the topic of “Compilation of Literature Catalogue and Database Construction of Modern Chinese Character Lexical History Research” at the “Process from Concepts to Words” sub meeting, which received high praise from experts and scholars present. Dr. Yang Chi has carefully selected research papers and monographs on the formation, development, and meaning evolution of Chinese characters under the influence of language contact between modern East West and East East (mainly between China and Japan) in recent years, and compiled them into a “Catalogue of Research Documents on the History of Modern Chinese Characters”. He hopes to provide convenience for colleagues who are devoted to the study of the history of modern Chinese characters and words and the history of concepts.
