The Department of Business English Successfully Conducted the Internship in the Second Semester of the 2021-2022 Academic Year

On June 28, 2022, the Department of Business English successfully carried out the internship in the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The internship was organized by Hyatt Corporation with the theme of business cross-cultural communication. All the students from the Business English Department of grade 2020 participated in the internship, which was hosted by Manager Jiang Xiaoying from Hyatt Corporation.

 

First of all, Manager Jiang Xiaoying introduced Hyatt Group and the background, development history and cultural background of relevant internationally renowned hotels.

 

Then, Manager Jiang started with the catering culture of hotels, and set up interesting questions and answers about catering culture in the lecture, so that students could further understand the contents of the hotel catering culture in a vivid and interesting way. Meanwhile, she showed the students the skills of napkin folding in the hotel culture, and led the students to the mock hotel table, explaining the Chinese and Western tableware placement and table manners.

 

Finally, Manager Jiang explained solutions to common problems and disputes in the hospitality industry. She invited some students to the stage, and simulated the service scene of the hotel, so that the students personally experienced the business culture in hotels.

 

Internship is not only a practical course combining theory with practice, but an important link in the training of business English professionals. In this internship, the students learned the practical contents of hotel service in cross-cultural communication, and not only understood the practical connotation of cross-cultural communication but clarified their future job-hunting direction.
