Dr Fan Yaqi was Awarded the 2020 Annual Project of the National Education Science “13th Five-Year Plan”

National Office for Education Sciences Planning announced the list of 2020 projects of the national education science “13th Five-Year Plan” on September 7th,2020. Research on the Civic Education Theory of American Literature Teaching in the 20th Century, chaired by Dr Fan Yaqi of our school, has been approved as the national general project of national education science(project number:BEA200109), achieving a breakthrough and becoming the first national project of national education science of our school. This project is estimated to be completed before June，2023 and the budget of the project is￥200,000 yuan.

Civic education serves as one of the most important aspects of educational reform of all countries in the world. Civic education started late in China without forming complete theoretical system. For that matter, it is still important for us to learn from the West in the current stage of research. Literature education theories of Rosenblatt, Lange, Green and other scholars since 20th century are to be taken as the research objects in Research on the Civic Education of American Literature Teaching in the 20th Century chaired by Dr Fan Yaqi, exploring cognition changes in regard to the connotation and goal of civic education among the above-mentioned scholars in literature teaching. This project also uncovers principles,strategies and approaches to carry out civic education in literature classes.

Funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, planning projects of national education science represent the highest-level project in national education science research at present, which largely reflects the academic level of the applicant as well as the scientific research capability of the unit to which the applicant belongs.
