At 10:30 a.m. on September 1, the first class meeting of 2017 postgraduates of School of Foreign Languages was held at Room X9239, Xipu campus. The graduate counselor, Ms. Zhang Xi hosted the meeting, and all 2017 postgraduates from the School of Foreign Languages attended the meeting. The agenda of the meeting included: teaching new students to sing school songs, arranging related matters of the opening ceremony, carrying out the safety education, emphasizing the management system, conducting class cadre elections and guiding students to fill in the studentIDcard.

The school song contains SWJTU’s educational philosophy, campus spirit and university characteristics. It is also an important identity of every student in SWJTU. The new students were familiar with the melody and lyrics of the school song by watching the video many times. After repeated practice, most of the students could sing the school song.

Then, Ms. Zhang Xi introduced the opening ceremony and related matters to the students, leaded the safety education, and explained the relevant management system of the university. She stressed that the security issue needed to be placed first. She discussed on the four aspects: personal property defense, interpersonal relationship management, self-psychological care, and law security. She analyzed two cases of security incidents, admonishing students not to take cars without certification and not to be involved in "campus loans." She also listed many management regulations of SWJTU, and required students to comply with relevant rules.

At the end of the meeting, all students voted for the two monitors and one league secretary by secret ballot. Ms. Zhang Xi sent out student ID cards and instructed students to fill in their information.
